The longer days of spring have birthed a bumper crop of cop cars popping up all over Lake County.
Daffodils they ain’t, although they seemed to appear overnight.
This Lake County Motorist has noticed a sudden increase in the police presence on our roads and highways. I’ve seen more cruisers sitting on the shoulders with lights flashing, or pulled alongside their captured prey, in the past two days than I’d previously seen all year.
What gives? Surely not that many law-scoffing intentions have emerged from the chrysalises of cautious winter driving?
Fellow motorists, please keep your eyes on the roads and the speedometers in the safe zone. Doubly so for those tailgating through the Tri-State construction zones at 75 MPH when traffic is light. Remember the vans?
Besides, there is snowfall in the short-term forecast. Don’t put those winter driving skills into storage just yet.

Seriously? 45 mph on the tri-state? It’s going to be really hard
There is a speedometer sign like on top of that can near Rt 60. on I-94. I actually got down to 54 near it!
Yep, 45. Sometimes that seems really slow, especially when the roads are clear and no workers are (apparently) present. On the other hand, when workers are busy right next to traffic under the Route 120 bridge, 45 can seem too fast. With a $375 ticket at risk, it’s best not to press one’s luck
